Bharani is solid lunch spot in the crowded, winding Sukhumvit 23 Asoke area, where it can be hard to find food both cheap and delicious. You’ll find decent food at Bharani, good service, and everything moderately priced. For a restaurant that’s been open since 1949 they have the expected amount of clutter in the restaurant and a giant menu. I appreciate all the character this brings to the establishment, but it still don’t usually arrive at Bharani feeling adventurous enough to try haphazard prepared western cuisine. Instead stick with the Thai dishes from Bharani, also known for it’s daily bento delivery service. Most notably on the menu are the rich boat noodles where they give you plenty of options for how you want them served. This includes choosing to have the famous noodles with Thai-French beef, a higher quality of beef than you would be served with boat noodles. Although, I love the choice, I found the beef still tough, but would still recommend this restaurant to newcomers to boat noodles or visitors in the area. Other recommendations are for their ox tongue stew, fried chicken platter, curries, and traditionally made Thai desserts.
