Baan Kru Eed Quick Review:
I travel to my wife’s hometown of Rayong often and one of our favorite places to visit is Baan Kru Eed. It’s located in the lush home garden of a former public school teacher who is well loved by his former students and new patrons of the restaurant. There aren’t a lot of frills at this restaurant. The seating is basic and so is the service, with the odd exception of phones on the wall in the dining area to them know when you need help. The food served is mostly their families North Eastern Thai and Laotian (Issan food) recipes.
This restaurant is already on my top list of restaurants in Rayong. I’m a big fan and with each visit I’m slowly making my way through the entire menu and have yet to be served anything I didn’t like! If you’re a first time visitor I’d recommend starting with the fruit som tum (ส้มตำผลไม้), grilled chicken (ไก่ย่าง), steamed fish with the Laotian chili paste (ปลานึ่งจิ้มแจ่ว), and you have to have their spicy and sour Laotian egg drop soup (ต้มแซ่บกระดูกอ่อนใส่ไข่). Finally Baan Kru Eed is not expensive or hard to find, so I hope more foreigners check out this restaurant while passing through town!
