If you haven’t been to Mess Hall or Opposite as it’s often called in short, you may not understand what all of the fuss is about. The restaurant is often featured in local publications as a popular destination for foodies and chefs in Bangkok and it’s in an easy to reach location at the mouth of Thonglor. The secret? The regular menu is interesting, but it’s the ever changing specials most of us are after.
Everything from figs to giant steaks, truffle sprinkled something to rich marou chocolate tarts, they’re sometimes seasonal and more commonly a product of the ever-experimenting chef’s creativity. Go a few weeks in between each visit and you can have a completely different experience. That’s certainly been the case with each of my visits, so instead of trying to nail the menu down and tell you what it’s like, here’s flurry of photos to give you an idea of what it’s like to dine at Chef Jess Barnes’ Opposite Mess Hall.
