I’d almost forgotten about the incredible night I crashed a charity event at Hansar. The event was called the Art Di’Wine Dinner and featured a 4 course dinner and art auction. This was a treat for me since I normally wouldn’t attend this type of charity function. This round however, I had friends with a table which makes all the difference, giving me an excuse to scope what’s on offer in Hansar, a boutique luxury hotel I’d never visited before.
Indeed it was a great night at Hansar with interesting food and great company, here’s some of the photos from the event:
Course: Yellowfin tuna ceviche Ingredients: melon compresse, carabineros, schremchii caviar Pairing: Sunrise Chardonnay 2013
Course: Charcoal grilled Iberico Bellota pork pluma Ingredients: forest mushroom, celeriac espuma Pairing: Trio Reserva Merlot 2011
Providing wine for the event was the winery Concha y Toro, a Chilean winery and one of the more common ones too. The produce all sorts of grapes so you can find a pretty good selection of the varietals from them and at a cheaper price than wine from other regions in the world, since South American wine isn’t taxed as heavily. As a result I’ve tried many of their bottom shelf wines and had many a headache from them. Luckily those weren’t the ones the winery was showing off at this event and everything served paired will with the French cuisine served from Eve’s kitchen.
Course: Italian Piedmontaise “Fassone” beef tenderloin Ingredients: Red wine bearnaise, shallot puree, golden beetroot Pairing: Marques De Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Course: Poached Pear William Ingredients: green tea, Belgium chocolate, Elefin coffee, and mignardise (petite four) Pairing: None
Most importantly the event was to help raise money and awareness about the Foundation for Slum Child Care. You can find out a little more about their foundation by visiting their website here.
