Previously on BKKFatty, we had a guest post about finding restaurants in Bangkok that are delicious consistently. It’s tougher than it seems, luckly guest poster Adam led us to Shuffle where he made a few trips before deciding to write a review for us. You can click here to read what Adam had to say.
In recent days since Adam’s review I’ve returned to Shuffle and watched a little more closely their performance. It is indeed an efficient plates, even despite a few misses on the menu.
Why you wait your table is treated to hot croissants and if you’re into craft beer, there’s a variety of bottle options. Let’s hope they have something good and craft on tap in the future. On this particular visit I grabbed the pear cider, which had a refreshing acidity to it. So much so that it would have been perfect to pair with a basket of buffalo wings. Unfortunately my order had already been placed and I don’t think you’d ever mistake deep fried asparagus for hot wings, not matter how delicious.
Anyway the deep fried treats are tasty and a good alternative to regular fried. They held me over while the ribs and lamb burger arrived. The ribs are most likely sous vide ribs and are tender, sweet, and easy to devour quickly. They do lack the smokiness of BBQ you’d have back home, however they’re more than sufficient to kill a craving.
One of the misses from my time at Shuffle Restaurant and Bar was their salad. Although it was plated creatively highlighting the crispy bacon on top, it was pretty difficult to eat and absent flavor outside of the bacon.
Also in hindsight, I should have ordered a beef burger instead of the lamb. The lamb wasn’t bad, but was too mushy for my taste. I do want my burger to be somewhat toothsome, but otherwise it was devoured entirely. On the next round though, I’ll definitely stick with beef.
I had a great first impression at Shuffle which for a small restaurant had a good variety of American style options on offer. I’ll definitely visit them again to see if I can dig out a few other gems from the menu. From the scribbling on the wall they also seem to have a pretty active mid-week trivia night. Check it out if you’re in the same area as the Rain Hill community mall, about equidistant between the Thonglor and Phromphong BTS Skytrain stations.
