Wifi, air conditioning, food, and coffee.
This is an ace combination when all you need to do is chill in the shade a bit after a few too many hours wandering Georgetown.
This is especially true, if you’ve been hanging out in Little India in the heat. Luckily, you’ll find Pit Stop cafe on the edge of Little India on Lorong Chulia, tucked away across from Roommates Guesthouse.
The cafe is part of the kitschy cafe scene that’s taken over Penang, although, their interior isn’t as painfully faux rustic or cutesy as many.
I hung out at Pit Stop Cafe a few times and would be happy to go back next time I’m in town.
I hung out long enough I guess for things to go wrong even. One afternoon while I was there, a fuse blew and half the restaurant lost power. Still the staff managed to keep their cool and get things back to normal. They’re also good about bringing you complimentary water.
Sandwiches are good and cheesy, although not as filled as I’d like them to be. A heartier sandwich would be a great add to the menu. Their potato wedges are awesome, so good I had to grab an extra bowl of just them.
With it’s reasonable prices, this does indeed turn out to be quite the nice pit stop!
