On the edge of Penang about a half an hour north of Georgetown is Batu Ferringhi, a collection of resorts and giant condos on a beautiful beach.
The resort town is one long strip of commerce with hawker centers, bars, and souvenir shops squeezed in between resorts against the nicest stretch of beach.
There’s plenty for the senses and although I hit a few of the hawker centers, it was one roadside chicken place that sticks out in memory. I remember it was just a moto-cart with chickens spinning way too fast to be hypnotic, it was dizzying!
As I stood there helplessly drawn to the place, one of the locals shout over to tell me how good it was. He and his friends had either claimed the only available table to sit down, or had parked his car nearby and brought his own chairs—- I couldn’t tell.
Malaysians love food and this guy loved this place. He was the regular and thus it was his duty to convince me (not a difficult job) to chomp down a few pieces of the honey marinated chicken.
No regrets there, sometimes you gotta know when to stop and smell the rotisserie!
There isn’t anything else written about this place, I searched around and no foursquare locale or anything. I asked and they seem to be in that same spot regularly though. Look for it if you visit Batu Ferringhi. You can find it on the side of the road opposite the side with the beach resorts and it’s almost across the street (actually a bit before if you’re coming from the bus station) from the Kafe Long Beach, a western style hawker center.
